Questions
How is net salary calculated in Belgium?
Social security (13.07%) is deducted from gross pay, then a flat-rate deduction for professional expenses (30%, capped at €6,070 a year), then income tax on the 25/40/45/50% scale after the €11,550 tax-free allowance, plus an average municipal surcharge of 7%. €4,000 gross a month gives about €2,659 net.
Why no result below €3,337 gross a month?
Below that amount the work bonus (bonus à l’emploi / werkbonus) reduces social security and tax significantly; it is not modelled here. Use the FPS Finance Tax-Calc.
